Renovation in Progress (part 2)

Week 2

Once the walls were demolished, we had a good view of the size and space. We also made sure that all the electrical sockets for appliances, drainage and water system were in check.

Now to stock up on renovating materials once the renovations begin. Hubbs and I decided to go on wooden flooring and subway tiles for a start.

We hunted high and low for those 4"x12" white tiles but couldn't find them. We tried asking friends who requested us to book online - far too expensive to transport it to Kuala Lumpur.

Then we opted for the smaller bathroom tiles. Then we had to figure out whether we wanted the kitchen to be full of tiles or with some back splash tile/mosaics... Oh dear it took us a week++ to decide on the materials.

Anyway we bought the smaller white tiles and got our contractors to figure out how to design them with our mosaic tiles. I think they did a good job in figuring out what I wanted :)

While the tiles were being laid out, the kitchen windows were being made to order (we had a very specific size, glass color and frame color to match the kitchen).

Since the place was too dusty and due to limited space, as evident as our balcony here:

we rented the vacant apartment next door and shifted all our furniture next door. At least the hall and our living room is now cleared up.

While the windows were being ordered, we waited to see the finishing touches on the tiles... we saw some of the inspirations come to life from the Ikea catalogs and in the meantime we played around with our cameras..
